Just when I think I’ve seen all of the best that this region around Hong Kong has to offer something comes along that blows my mind. Near Foshan in Guangdong province is one of the most spectacular big Buddhas I’ve seen. Sure, we have our own in Hong Kong at Lantau island, but this one is bigger, grander, and with a gorgeous temple complex set on the Xiquao mountain ridge overlooking Foshan.
Oddly enough, there’s almost no information about this in English and although I know quite a few people from Guangdong this is the first I’ve ever heard of it.
What’s to see?
Guanyin in full glory.
Then, ofcourse, there’s the view from the mountain top…
and the lovely temple complex…
Location:
A real hidden jewel, just three hours from Hong Kong. If you’re looking to travel in the area, this makes for a terrific getaway.
