On the way to see the gorgeous Yuen Yuen Institute and Western Monastery in Tseun Wan, we made a stop along the way to show our visitors a different side of Hong Kong – wild monkeys. Turns out, there’s quite a few of them living in the Kowloon mountains and their population is expanding fast. Last time I saw monkeys in Hong Kong, I needed to hike for a couple of hours through the Maclehose stage 5 and Maclehose stage 6 hiking trails, but the Hong Kong professor that was driving us decided to make a stop along the way next to a road close to Piper’s Hill, otherwise known as “Monkey Mountain” in the Kam Shan Country Park area. And there they were, easily accessible, completely oblivious to the people around them.
If you need the exact location :
Guess things are always easier in Hong Kong when you’ve got a car. If wild monkeys are your thing, then Hong Kong definitely has something to offer you.
hey do you know if you can get there via public transport?
Andy – you have the Google map location and Google maps for HK includes public transport details.
