I went to Guilin at the worst possible weather, but still managed to see a thing or two. One of those things was the main symbol of Guilin – twin pagodas called “Sun & Moon Pagodas” in a lake near central Guilin.
As my hotel was quite close by, I could play around taking photos during both night and day. During the night, the pagodas and the surrounding lake paths are illuminated quite nicely and working together with the mist to create a romantic atmosphere…
During day time it looks like… like… two pagodas. 😛
Here are a few more shots from different places around the lake…
You could also go inside, if you want to. There are some exhibits inside with zero English translations (~20CNY).
To wrap up, let’s finish with a lake panorama…

Lishu – when I visited the weather was absolutely horrible and the pollution insane. To make matters worse, it was overloaded with huge Chinese tour groups that made alot of noise. I guess I need to go back and visit sometime, but I was generally disappointed with the scenery. It could be that I’ve just seen those erupting mountains in a much nicer setting in places like Krabi-Thailand and Halong Bay in Vietnam.
I guess you didn’t go to Yangshuo, Guilin is no fun…Yangshuo is very beautiful and natrual, I missed Yangshuo very much, i missed Yulong river very much…wish i can go again.
I like these two better http://si.tc/dragontiger What do you think? 😛
