Saint Petersburg is a gorgeous city, and a good place to kick off a tour of the city is at the area around the Winter Palace with the State Hermitage Museum, one of the largest and oldest museums in the world, dating back to the 18th century. The area features a huge square, many historical buildings with remarkable architecture, and several world-class museums. Even if you’re not into museums or art, these museum building are well-worth a visit to experience a bit of what the lives of the former Russian royalty might have felt like.
I visited the area a few times, during day and night, and every time I was blown away by the grandeur and use of space. It’s located at the very heart of the Saint Petersburg attractions, so it’s unlikely you’ll miss it, but still, if you’re pressed for time atleast make sure you stop over for a quick look, there are very few areas quite like that elsewhere.
Location:
Beauty in every corner all over Saint Petersburg, far beyond what I imagined. Go visit.
