Philadelphia has been on my radar for quite some time, but I never really got around to visiting. A conference in New York City and a quick visit to Princeton University brought me close enough to be able to pop in for a quick visit, and I discovered a really charming city, with a great vibe and plenty of things to do. Although it’s hard to really get to know a city in a day, I do know that Philly is a city worth lingering in longer, and so I’m quite certain that we’ll be seeing more of each other some time in the future. One thing worth noting, though, is that Philadelphia is commonly referred to as Philly, and that created a bit of a predicament for me – given my name.
Anyhow, my visit to Philly started with UPenn campus, followed by a city walk crossing the bridge over to the downtown area…
A number of parks around the downtown area…
And historical sights…
Night time offers its own charm. My hotel was located next to the grandiose city hall.
In an area filled with interesting architecture…
and top-notch world class museums and cultural icons (i.e. Rocky)…
Though I didn’t get to visit much, the visit to the Eastern State Penitentiary was very memorable and a must do for anyone visiting the city.
I’m not American, but the ones I met also felt like the Liberty Bell was a must see. I wasn’t sure what the fuss is about, but the museums next to it (National Museum of American Jewish History, Independence Hall, the US mint, and the National Constitution Center) are worth checking out.

All in all, one of the nicest city day trips I’ve had recently. Hope to make it back soon.
