On my last visit to Japan I visited a new region. Kagoshima is down on the south western part of Japan, an area with lots of volcano mountains, which together with the Japanese islands landscape offers some spectacular scenery. In Japan this also means hotsprings and spa, which the Japanese know how to do very well.
The trip started from the gorgeous imposing Sakurajima looking down at Kagoshima city from the east, a ferry ride away from town. Up on the top, there are panoramic views of the entire region with the active volcano in the backdrop. In Kagoshima are beautiful royal Japanese gardens and the city offers a few areas with vibrant markets and bars/pubs.
I give you my photo summary of the Japanese volcanic region of Kagoshima…
