On my last trip to Portugal, I did a road trip down from Porto towards Lisbon, going through the mountains and making stops in key cities along the way. There are quite a few remarkable cities to visit on that route, of which I choose two – Obidos and Coimbra. Obidos is a small fortified old town, very picturesque, with pretty Greek like white old houses and one of the nicest wall walks I’ve done recently. Coimbra has a very old university dating back to the 13th century that I’ve been wanting to see for some time, and is famous for its flavour of Fado music. The uni has a very nice old campus, gorgeous library, overlooking the city surrounding a grand river.
