This summer I was invited for a few weeks to Paris, and was looking for new things to explore in the area. A local I met who grow up in Chantilly strongly recommended I check it out, a quick daytrip from Paris, so I decided to rent a car and combine Chantilly with exploring the north-western coast of France. Chantilly is, indeed, gorgeous. Even if you have a chateau overload and you’ve seen quite a few, there are some features in this one that make it special. Aside from the lovely palace and the vast gardens nearby, there are also active horse stables with an interesting exhibition on how horses ‘evolved’ to become one of man’s most valuable tools pre-technology times. The nearby town offers a wide array of food and drink options. All in all, a great escape from busy Paris.
Here’s my photo summary of my visit to Chantilly, one hour north from Paris in France…

More on that later.
Also, not exactly in the area, but my next stop after Chantilly was Les Andelys, half way between Chantilly and the north-west coast. It was quite lovely…
