The wonderful about living in Maastricht at pretty much the center of western Europe is that many countries are within easy reach for a weekend getaway. One gloomy weekend I decided I should head out and see more of the area before it becomes too cold and rainy. So, two hours south through clear roads and thick fog I made it to Luxembourg, parked in the free Park and Ride, and took the quick shuttle bus downtown. Definitely there are some interesting attractions, but I’d say for a daytrip the nicest thing is just explore the town around on foot. I spent about 4 hours walking around and enjoying the views from the hill top down towards the nearby hills and the valleys in between. It’s all quite picturesque, especially with the autumn colors and threatening grey skies.
