Up till a year ago, I have seen very little of Poland aside from a trip at a very young age that I barely remember. In the year since, I’ve seen quite a bit of Poland – Poznan, Warsaw, and Gdansk. My most recent visit was to the Lodz area, to explore a bit of the area, rediscover family links, and take part in a unique get-together taking place in one of the small local communities. While visiting Lodz, I made trips in the area to see a bit of Piotrków Trybunalski, Częstochowa, and Lelów.
Lodz was a surprisingly pleasant city, with one wonderful pedestrian street, and some funky renovated factories turned posh shopping areas, and I even caught an Andre Rieu in the local stadium, which is ironic given that I’m based in Maastricht and I need to go all the way to Poland to see the Maastricht born, raised, and currently residing Andre for the show.
Anyhow, to give you a quick taste of the time spent in Lodz, here are my visions of Lodz…
