Villa Marmarine was something special. I don’t normally mention the accommodation I stay with, since with my budget  it’s usually nothing very exciting to write home about. But, every once in a while I do come across a lovely surprise and I think it’s about time I give back some love. What made Villa Marmarine special is that it had both beauty and character. The few days I stayed with them were great in every possible sense.

It’s not just the picture perfect beach I had all to myself…

Upon my arrival after the late ferry I was greeted to join a large gourmet dinner that was prepared for a few Japanese friends who were visiting that night. Taking turns coming over to my table, sitting down and chit-chatting to keep me company, the entire staff was the friendliest I’ve met. The Japanese owners made sure that I feel welcome and satisfied.

Each morning, I woke up with sunrise to face this beautiful piece of heaven…

Laid down on my private hammock going between reading, napping, and staring blankly into the views…

For me, island rest can’t get much better than this.

It’s really a lovely complex, all wood and green…

And the rooms are just gigantic and well-equipped, for an unbelievably affordable price (~30US$/night)… not to mention they upgraded me to a family villa with two floors, a full-blown kitchen and two double beds. I could have brought a whole tribe into this cabin.

Ah, yeah, and they also have some terrific breakfasts…

Nothing but positives to say about the place. If you’re in Siquijor, make this your place. Be sure to book in advance, they can be fully booked long in advance.

I didn’t stay in Villa Marmarine, but I was able to go there. The place looked inviting especially the dining set-up facing the beach. I stayed in a friend’s house, but he told me that Villa Marmarine is a top choice for both locals and foreigners.
