After enjoying the lovely Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, I wanted to explore quick getaways in the are, and so was recommended to head off to the west to see Trakai, which features the Trakai Castle – a 14th century beautiful fortified stone castle set at the middle of a large lake. An hour’s bus away, I walked along the lake shores to make it the very picturesque attraction, and spent half a day exploring the castle and roaming around the various attractions in the area. I did a lake tour, entered some of the local museums, and enjoyed some of the curious local cuisine. As far as castles go, this one’s pretty neat, and the exhibitions inside are pretty informative and exhaustive. I’m no fort expert, but I visited quite a few, and this seemed to me a bit different than others I’ve visited in Europe.
