Tired of standard dining? Taiwan offers a wide variety of themed restaurants for you to choose from. I previously wrote about Taiwan’s toilet restaurants, and there are also Hello Kitty places (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), but this next one I think is slightly more interesting, especially to the male audiences.
While driving in Tainan’s Datong rd. I noticed a new coffee-shop with a big English sign with “Head of Household” and photos of maids. Turns out, a guy opened 3 branches of a Cosplay maid themed coffee-ice shop. All the girls dressed up like sexy house-maids were no doubt very young, it was disturbingly exotic. I then asked my local friends about it and they said Cosplay restaurants are actually a big hit in Asia, Tainan having a few local examples.
We just had to go visit one …
Welcome to Dear Alice in Wonderland (變裝女僕主題餐廳), a Cosplay themed restaurant in the area of the grand Mitsukushi shopping mall.
We’ll start off from the lovely girls who were sweet to model for us foreign ghosts.
I got to hand it to some of those girls, they make Cosplay look really good. A bit difficult to concentrate on eating with all that walking around.
Some of them seemed almost deliberately spicy.
While others were much more innocent.
The local clientel, in case you were wondering, had groups of both guys and girls.
Naturally, this is far more developed in Japan, the land of Cosplay.
Lee Joe commented on Twitter that there are a few in Hong Kong as well around Causeway Bay. Example – Maid Date (RM D 2/F , Percival Building, No 83. Percival Street CWB).
beautiful girls but how is the food?
how expensive is the restaurant?
Nitzan – It’s an all you can eat restaurant for about 300NT$ a meal, including all you can drink. I thought the food was average, but others thought it was below average. Just go and check it out…
