Taiwan’s National Center for Traditional Arts (NCTA) set at Luodong in Yilan County is not often visited by tourists, but it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area. Built to preserve the Taiwanese traditional arts, the park offers a variety of art performances, and an introduction on all that’s Taiwanese culture related.

Due to the rapid changes of our current society, traditional arts are dying out because there are no people learning these skills. Therefore in February 1995, under a decision made by the Executive Yuan, a proposal for the establishment of a ‘North Eastern Cultural Arts Park’ was changed to a plan for establishing a ‘Center for Traditional Arts’ and the Council for Cultural Affairs, Taiwan was put in charge of this plan. In 1996 a preparatory office was founded, and on March 27, the preparatory office started official operation. Up until today, apart from dedicating ourselves to the new development of the center, we are still facing the problem of the traditional arts dying out and being lost. Therefore, we hope to finish our objectives in advance and finish surveys into traditional arts, the collection and organization of information on traditional arts so as to preserve them. We also hope to transmit these traditional arts in the shortest amount of time.On January16, 2002, we passed a primary examination by the Executive Yuan. By Mass Transportation – Train
Take the train to Luodong Train Station (03-9542117). Exit from the near exit. And take the Kuo Kuang Bus (03-9542703) to the park. (about fifteen minutes) Train Timetable
