Lots of great museums in Amsterdam, from world-class art museums (Rijksmuseum), local history museum (e.g., Anne Frank, Jewish museum, Canal House museum), to funky beer museums (e.g., Heineken). The Stedelijk Museum falls into the first category, grouped together in the Amsterdam Museum District, this one is meant for modern and contemporary art and design. With all due respect to the great Dutch artist, I usually like seeing something new and different that challenges the way that I perceive the world.
In my recent visit to Amsterdam showing my family around, we went to visit the museum, and it was an interesting visit. There’s almost too much going on, and it’s sometimes hard to keep track of the themes, or how – if at all – they’re connected. Yet, as you can see below, there is lots to challenge your mind, and make you think and wonder… and if not that, atleast you can say you’ve seen a few famous Picassos and Shagals from the modern art sections.
Location:
A fun way to spend an hour or two, not that I can ever survive longer in a museum. I can see myself going back to visit again in a year or two, to get another feel for it all.
