Last year I was in Vancouver for a conference, and had a day to explore around a bit. The conference was taking place at the large conference center next to the Vancouver Harbour and so I set out to walk west from the conference center towards Stanley Park. The park was quite lovely, with lots of green and little ponds. There were even some beach/pool playgrounds for families, and some public art exhibitions along the boardwalk. Down south and then east back towards the center of Vancouver was another lovely attraction in the form of Granville Island and its wonderful lively local market, with funky little shops and cafes, as well as galleries and arts. Lots to see and explore…

A wonderful half a day walk to see some of the highlights of central Vancouver. If you get tired at any point on this walk path, there are small ferries that could take you across the river straight to the market for fairly cheap.
