Had a chance to revisit Paris again recently during gloomy cold weather before Christmas. The des Champs-Elysees street features a lively Christmas market and despite the gloomy weather there were lots of locals and tourists everywhere. At the end of the long avenue is a park that leads to the Louvre, and at the center next to the Fontaine des Mers is a large ferris wheel – the Roue de Paris, which features a nice way to see the center of Paris from above. It travels around the world, so it might not always be there, but if it is, it’s a nice way to get a different perspective of beautiful Paris.
Approaching the ferris wheel…
Near the Fontaine des Mers …
And up we go…
With grand views of Paris in all directions…
and then, if you head over to the Louvre through the park…
and finally, the once-criticized-now-turned-Paris-symbol Louvre structure…
Location:
Can’t help it, I really like Ferris Wheels, even if they’re over-commercialized and over-priced. It does let you see a city in a whole new way.
