Sintra is a gorgeous getaway trip from Lisbon in Portugal. It combines many lovely attractions to keep every type of tourist happy, old forts, scenic views, nature hikes, funky estates, castles, and an old Portugese town with cafes and shopping. The last attraction I visited in Sintra before heading back to Lisbon was the Quinta da Regaleira, a palace with extraordinary gardens that offer mysterious adventures with hidden caves and tunnels, underground water streams, waterfalls, and lots of beautiful sculptures and green. The place is quite magical, and it’s fun to try and explore all the options. These are pretty large gardens, so it might take 2-3 hours to explore everything, but it’s all quite enjoyable and worth it. Highly recommended.

Location:
Definitely check this out if you’re in Sintra. It’s walkable from the main old town, but there are plenty of toktoks to give you a quick ride. If you took a ride up to the Park and National Palace of Pena you can ask the driver to take you straight here on the way back for no extra fee.
