Oaxaca was one of the highlights in my last visit to Mexico, and I spent some time exploring Oaxaca Town and enjoying the Mexican desert vibe. It’s a good base for some terrific day trips to explore the fascinating area with pyramids and extraordinary desert scenery.
Thought I’d share with you a walking tour of the town…
Oaxaca Town
Templo de Santo Domingo…
Very colorful streets,
And lovely colonial Spanish buildings…
Caught a musical performance at the gorgeous local concert house…
and felt safe even when wondering around at night…
The next day…
Even for the buildings that are not colonial style, there’s lots of lovely art and graffiti…
and local markets…
And the center is very vibrant and lively, with lots of terrific people watching…
Were some street parades, being around Easter time…

The way from Mexico City to Oaxaca is quite long and I wanted to break it up a bit, so every hour or so tried to find a place to stop along the way.
About 30-45 min north of Oaxaca, also made a stop in this spot…
