Taiwan has a special place in my heart. In 2006 I landed for the first time in Taipei and I soon realized I want to linger longer. I got myself a flat in the Gongguan area, near the National Taiwan University (NTU) and spent some time exploring Taiwan and trying my luck with Mandarin Chinese. Later, when I came back to live in southern Taiwan, I would occasionally go up to Taipei to revisit, and the Gongguan Shida area would be places that I would often to back to visit.
This year, after over a decade of being away, I finally had a chance to go back and visit, explore the lovely NTU and NTNU campuses, and meet with the local faculty and friends. It was an important visit for me, to reaffirm the connection I felt to this city and that campus, and remind myself of the bond I have to the people I connected to back then. Nostalgia in every corner, strong memories.
Let me take you around the NTU campus…
