Not too far away from the restored Fort Conde in Mobile Alabama is the lovely Museum of Mobile, providing the historical context for Mobile’s colonial history and highlighting some terrific exhibitions and insights into local arts and culture including the Mardi Gras traditions.
As you can see, Mobile’s got their own version of the lady of liberty from the French. The top floor features some of the Mardi Gras history and traditions…
Unrelated to Mobile there was also a surprising exhibition about super heros at the entrance which I enjoyed tremendously.
Following that is a bit about the southern trade in slaves and issues of racism …
As well as a bit about local life back in the days…
Overall, an interesting museum with a wonderful surprising exhibition about superheros and comics. Be sure to combine that with the nearby Fort Conde.
