Although Israel is tiny, the differences between north and south are huge. The south is mostly desert land, while the north – especially during spring – is lush and green. During my last visit to Israel in March, the north is the perfect place to be. Blue skies, fluffy clouds, rivers with rushing waters, trees and flowers at full bloom.
The first stop on my recent visit up north was Mount Tabor in Lower Galilee, a famous mountain in the old testament for a glorious battle and then much later believed to be the place that hosted Jesus’ transfiguration. But, all history aside, the mountain is just gorgeous. It’s beautiful to watch from afar, and the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking in all directions.
Getting close to the mountain…
Then riding up the mountain to the top for the views…
Isn’t that something?
Wherever Jesus was believed to do something, you’d bound to find a church for pilgrimage. On the top of the mountain are the Church of the Transfiguration and the Church of Revelation.
Location :
If you’re in the area, I’d recommend staying and taking an hour or two to go up and soak in the views.
Thanks for the fantastic photos and perspectives of Mt. Tabor. Preparing a message on Jer. 46 and realized I had no idea what Tabor is like. Thanks for taking me there!
