Mexican pyramids are very impressive. Every site that I visit in Mexico just blows my mind. The scale, the level of preservation, and the history is remarkable. The UNESCO heritage site Monte Albán is one such extraordinary site, dating back to 500 BC and holding strong until about 750 AD, with a population of more than 30000.
I visited on a smoggy day, so wasn’t able to enjoy the views but even with that, when you climb up on top of the pyramid and look at the entire thing it’s quite the experience. The site makes it possible to envision what life might have looked like back then. You can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around and taking it all in.
Let’s climb up and have a look…
There’s also a small museum on site…
