Lisbon is a great city with lots of interesting areas offering a wide variety of attractions. One interesting area that’s a bit different from all the architectural historical tourist areas of Lisbon is the funky LX Factory art area, a former factory located under the industrial bridge connecting to the other side of the river, now hosting galleries, book shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and markets. The day I was visiting the weather was pretty bad, raining and somewhat gloomy, but there was plenty to see and do inside. So I was just wondering around and enjoyed a great bookshop with a local inventor showcasing his weird inventions on the upper floor, a local market in a large hall, and lots of little shops and cafes.
The entrance to LX Factory area…
Under the ugly bridge…
First stop, the book shop…
With this guy on the upper floor…
Showing us all kind of useless inventions (according to him! he makes a point of making his inventions useless)…
Take this, for example… what should we call it? a vibrating walking fly?
Or a … time machine?
and a… a… something with things that move…
The whole area has some great graffiti and street art…
and finally, a local market…
Location:
A great area to spend a few hours, especially if it’s raining outside and you want to explore some local art galleries.
Wonderful photos and commentary!
