San Diego is a lovely city. In mid-winter around Christmas time I took off from freezing cold Illinois to warm up down in southern United States. I’ve been wanting to visit San Diego for long, having heard wonderful things about one of the nicest most livable American cities. It has so many things going for it, terrific beaches, expansive natural parks, an old town, and Tijuana very close by with a distinctive Mexican style atmosphere.
What better way to open up the San Diego exploration than with the La Jolla Cove Beach, a wonderful stretch of coastal park with breathtaking scenery and sea lions. The area offers lots of terrific little restaurants and coffee shops, and the stroll down the boardwalk during sunset is quite the experience.
Here’s from the official website:
La Jolla Cove is San Diego’s most desirable spot for kayaking, snorkeling and diving. The water is calm and ecologically protected, providing a safe home for colorful garibaldi, yellowtail, rays and even leopard sharks. Because the water is protected, surfboards, boogie boards and other floatation devices are not permitted. The beach itself is small, but nearby Scripps Park offers a nice grassy expanse for spreading out.
Visually, the cove is a breathtakingly gorgeous gem. Somewhat hidden with alluring curves and caves, it is often cited as the most photographed beach in San Diego. This ocean view’s striking beauty simply cannot be overstated.
Shall we take a sunset walk?
