On my second day in Saint Petersburg, I decided to head to the northern part of the city and explore the local island parks – Krestovsky Island and Norway Park. Krestovsky Island was very quiet when I visited, and the amusement park wasn’t open, so I just had a stroll around and watched the locals row on the river. Norway Park was slightly more interesting, with different walking paths, some buildings open for visitors, and there were generally more locals around and the occasional food/drinks booth.
These areas are definitely the more chilled off-the-beaten-tourist-track options for visiting tourists, though I have the feeling it gets pretty busy on weekends. Overall, spend about half a day there before heading back to the more central touristic area, and with the sunny blue skies weather it was a pretty relaxed day.

Not a must if you’re visiting Saint Petersburg, unless you’re looking for an escape from all the tourists or want to visit an amusement park.
