Every year the HKUST management department invites a few job candidates with top-tier publications from schools all over the world to give job talks here at HKUST. Usually, we’re talking about 8-10 jobs talks surrounding the candidates research topics in Organizational Behavior (Micro), Organizational Theory (OT-Macro), & Strategy. The job candidates spend a couple of days on campus giving a talk about their recent submissions or their thesis, meeting with our faculty and having breakfast with the PhD students.
This is where the HKUST Unibar and UC-Bistro comes in. Most breakfasts we have with the candidates are at the nicest place to dine on campus – the UC Bistro, which runs together with the UniBar – perhaps the only hangout students have on campus (closest ones being in Sai Kung, most internationals usually heading out to Lan Kwai Fong).
So, this morning, as I was waiting for one of the job candidates to come in and join me for breakfast, I decided it’s time to take a few photos of the UniBar and the Bistro (with my Acer Android phone, which doesn’t do very well with low light conditions) and share those with you.
So this is what the HKUST University Bar looks like… (during the day, when it’s completely empty)
Happy hours, Monday to Friday between 5:00pm and 8:00pm are Buy 1 Get 1 for all of the alcoholic drinks. Prices are generally low compared to bars in most hangout districts (e.g. Lan Kwai Fong).
The UC Bistro is a bit more open space and breakfasts sometimes means a buffet…
Not too bad.
You should all come and visit…
