By now, I’ve explored most of what Hong Kong has to offer and so I find myself venturing out to the nearby mainland China Guangdong province. When I ask my Hong Kong friends if they go travel in Guangdong they usually reply there isn’t much to visit or see there, it’s not like Guangdong is high on the tourist visit path to China. But, throughout the years, I’ve found quite a few hidden gems.
Recently, it was announced on the news that China has opened a new attraction with the world’s longest widest glass bridge. The news became viral when videos surfaced showing that it included sounds of the glass cracking, scaring the hell out of visitors (example video). Turns out this was in Guangdong, not that far away from Hong Kong, and so I went to have a look. It was great fun, a very nice attraction, both in terms of scenery and what the funky Chinese built around it. It had the usual overcrowded Chinese tourist masses, but that’s to be expected in a new attraction. Overall a nice experience.

In the area, also had a look at a “Thai village” which is basically a huge jewelry complex in Thai style.
