On my recent visit to Barcelona, I stayed near the Gothic Quarter, the old city center, with buildings and architecture dating back hundreds of years. It’s filled with funky stores, comfy little cafes and restaurants, and shopping options. There are lots of walking tours of the area, but sometimes it’s best to just wonder around and let yourself soak it all in. At the very least, there are the magnificent structures of Plaça del Pi and La Seu Cathedral, and smaller little attractions like the old synagogue at the former Jewish Quarter area. At night there are street performances, dancing fountains, and street markets.
Location:
This is a great area to explore and a good area to base yourself when visiting Barcelona.
