If you’re looking for a quick getaway from Rome, Tivoli is a great option. A magical old town filled with gardens, mansions, old streets, mountain scenery with deep valleys, filled with UNESCO heritage sites in every corner. One of the most impressive sites I visited in Tivoli is the Villa d’Este with its remarkable 16-th century Renaissance gardens.
You start your tour from the villa, walking around rooms completely covered with magnificent paintings. But most people consider the gardens to be the highlight, with fountains, waterfalls, and very impressive artwork.
