Saint Augustine, the first town, with the first house, having the first cathedral, fort or college and just about first everything in regards to the colonial overtake of the Americas. It’s where the Europeans first based their American expeditions, and till this very day offers an interesting overview of colonial history.
Next on my historical tour of Saint Augustine is the Dow Museum of Historic Houses, hosting nine historical homes from different period of Saint Augustine life.
The complex isn’t very large, but you can walk into the houses and see what life must have been like back in the days.
Below, you can see some of the houses I ventured into and you’ll probably notice how different they are. From a very simple old life style to some more modern and posh living.
Was a pleasant hour of going back in time. It’s very close to the Lightner Museum and on the way to the Oldest House so stop by if you’re into historical houses.
