I’ve stopped counting the number of science museums I’ve been to, been to far too many and all over the world, and so I’m always a bit hesitant to try new ones. What can another science museum possibly have to offer beyond all the other world-class museums I’ve been to around the world? When visiting Warsaw during very hot weather, and after having covered most of the Warsaw highlights I decided to head over to the highly recommended Copernicus Science Centre Museum and try it out.
It’s a relatively new museum and it shows. Nothing bad, quite the contrary, it’s all shiny and high-techy, with lots of technology and top-notch interactive exhibits. A good science museum caters to the enthusiastic kids while also engaging the parents and adult visitors like me, and Copernicus was especially good at that. Lots of things for families to do together, and most of the exhibits really encouraged curiosity and exploration while demonstrating important science principles. Surprisingly, it all had English, for everything aside from the main shows. I especially like science museums that treat psychology and neuro as sciences, and Copernicus had a few sections devoted to that, demonstrating some core psychological processes, some relationship to brain functions and activity, and highlighting cognitive and visual illusions.
So, even though I thought I was a bit tired of science museums, this museum provided a good 2-3 hours fun escape to the world of science.
Location:
If you have kids, or looking to escape over-hot or over-cold weather, then this place would be a great option. If you’re going there, don’t miss the university library rooftop attraction just next to the museum, it’s a terrific odd little attraction.
