Possibly one of the most photogenic capitol buildings I’ve visited in the United States is based in Austin Texas. I was visiting in town for a conference (SPSP2014) and caught some gorgeous cold sunny weather that made for some spectacular snapshots of this special building.
Just next to the capitol building is the visitors center with a small museum of the history of Austin Texas and the area.

If you’d like to go inside, there’s a special tour that will walk you through the building and explain the main functions of the different bodies that sit there as well as some of the interesting history of Texas – most of which I’m embarrassed to admit I knew absolutely nothing about (did you know Texas was independent for a few years before being Mexican and then joining the union? I didn’t).
