Florence is a beautiful city with much to see and do. My favorite part of Florence were the Boboli Gardens, up on the hill south of the river, which is a lovely open air museum-park, with gardens, fountains, and sculptures. Just behind the Pitti palace, these gardens date back to the 16th century and offer grand views of Florence from above. You can easily spend 2-3 hours just exploring the gardens and admiring the layout and art. Many famous works of art in there, but the fountain of Neptune is probably the one that has the strongest impact on visitors, because of the world famous fountain of Neptune down at the center of the city in Palazzo Vecchio. You can easily combine this with a visit to Forte di Belvedere and the nearby Giardino Bardini that also have an elevator to help you with the very steep incline.
Shall we have a look at the gardens?
The river is very close by…
And outside by the fort, you might come across a few art friends…
