At the end of my Thailand trip, I spent a couple of days in Chang Mai after 14 years of being away. I rented a scooter and headed up the mountains to explore temples and see Chang Mai from above. After making a stop at the lively Doi Suthep, I continued onwards and saw a sign for the royal botanical gardens. High above, in the mountain area, surrounded by jungles and set in tropical weather, this was an unexpected treat. They’re quite large, so walking around will take an hour or two, and it’s all very colorful and pretty. Definitely worth checking out.
