Bangkok‘s an exciting city with lots of see and do with lots of small unexpected gems. Two such gems, not too far away from one another are the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and the Jim Thompson House Museum. The first is, well, it’s an arts center, with cute shops and various exhibitions in an interesting looking building. Right around the corner is a private museum, a former house of Jim Thompson who founded a silk trading company back in mid 20th century and became very wealthy. The house now hosts a large arts collection and with a guided tour you can take a walk back in time and hear raving stories about Jim and his adventures. There’s an interesting twist to Jim, having disappeared in the 1960s, after which the government took over and turned this into a museum. Unfortunately, photography isn’t allowed inside, so I can’t share what’s inside, but you should go have a look, it’s really worth a visit.
