Brussels isn’t very far away from Maastricht but until recently I mainly knew Brussels through its airport, nothing more. In my little sister’s visit to the area we decided it was time to visit Brussels, and I think we were both pleasantly surprised by the old center, the Christmas markets, and the variety of things to see and do. After dark, and just before heading back to the airport we decided to go see one final attraction, and on noticed the automobile museum attraction – AutoWorld. I’ve seen my fair share of auto museums, but the suggested reviews hinted that this is worth visiting, and it was on our way, so we decided to go check it out. It was, indeed, very well done, a wonderful collection of automobiles in all types and forms, with detailed explanations, and in a large shiny hall to give you an overview of how the automobile industry developed and the Belgium/European contributions. I must admit that most of the museums I visited thus far were American, and the Europeans seemed to be more about elegance and beauty than size, power, and speed, and so you’ll get to see all kinds of gorgeous stylish vehicles and some of their history.
To give you a taste of this huge collection and the various vehicles you can expect to see…
Location:
We spent a bit more than an hour there and that was just perfect. Car fans could spend a whole day there, I imagine. They keep shifting the cars, and have various exhibitions, so it might even be worth a revisit if there’s something interesting taking place. All in all, a great Brussels attraction.
