Adding to my very long list of French European estates visited across France is the Château Vaux le Vicomte, which – if visited – should be combined with the Château de Blandy-les-Tours Castle. It’s only that they’re only a few miles from each other, but I believe that at some point in the relatively recent history they also both shared an owner. Every estate has its own charm and style, and with tens of thousands of those across Europe you at some point start asking yourself what the differences are and whether they’re really worth your trouble. This estate, aside from fairly impressive gardens, allows you a visit to down-stairs, to visit the jails, the kitchen, and basically where the huge staff running the estate for a single family, if not a single man, were hustling and bustling with behind-the-scenes activity.
As far as estates go, I’m sure you’ll agree this one looks good on the outside.
And going inside, you’ll get your usual over-the-top art and decor.
But the real charm, as I pointed out, was going down below to visit the other side to all that beauty…
French Downton Abbey, of sorts.

I stopped by on the way back from Château de Fontainebleau to Paris, but with all the estates all over France I can’t really say this is an absolute must. But, if you’re constantly château hungry, then this is another one to add to your list…
