Lots to see and do along the gorgeous San Francisco waterfronts. Different piers offering various attractions. There are sea lions and tourist shopping in Pier 39, there’s an old second world war battle ship and a funky old game machines museum in Pier 45 but further off to the west towards the Golden Bridge is the Hyde Street Pier with the wonderful San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. You start off with a very humble museum, but that’s where they’ll direct you to the pier to join one of the guided tours of the historic ships. Of the few ships there I got to tour the Balclutha – a 19th century trade vessel, and the Eureka – an old steamboat passenger and cargo vessel.
So you’ll start off from the museum building…

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon, the guided tours are fantastic and highly recommended. A trip through time, kids above 6 will probably have a good time.
