There are days when the beauty of Shenzhen really shines, and when a day like that finally happens, make your way to Shenzhen’s new Kingkey 100 skyscraper and head up to the Saint Regis Hotel bar on the 97th floor. You’re in for a real treat.
(The Hong Kong side is looking great! this last photo shows you the HK Mai Po wetland park across the river border)
Here’s what I wrote in my last visit to the bar, just after touring the nearby Lizhi Park on a highly polluted day (so no scenic views or photos to show off) :
If you survived this far, here’s a great tip for you if you’re visiting Lizhi Park. Just next to the park, near the MTR is one of Shenzhen’s newest monstrosity skyscraper, said to be the 8th tallest in the world. On the 97th floor is the St. Regis Hotel with a terrific bar and a grand view overlooking Shenzhen. Beers are around 30yuan and Chinese tea goes for about 60yuan, a bargain considering the views and grandeur that come along with it.
Here’s a bit of what Wikipedia has to offer on Kingkey 100 :
The mixed-use building rises to 441.8 metres (1,449 ft) and contains 100 floors for office space and a hotel. The St. Regis Hotel occupies floors 75 to 98 of the main tower, which opened in September 2011. It is currently the tallest building in Shenzhen as well as being the 9th tallest building in the world.
Enough said, enjoy the glory of beautiful Shenzhen…
A quick look at the insides…
Gorgeous!
