Not too sure what to call the Yap Sandiego Heritage House in Cebu City . When I finally found it after venturing uncomfortably on foot through Cebu City I was a bit surprised. True, it was the first “attraction” I saw in the Philippines, but I still wasn’t prepared to the scale of things.
Here, you tell me what you see…
So, it’s an old-looking wooden house at a street corner. Special?
Read this and decide…
This “heritage” “museum” tries to recreate the house of a Chinese family back in the “glorious past”, and it does a pretty good job at that.
This family…
… lived in a two story house with all of the following inside…
The local tourguide will do his best to explain why this is special, unique and worth preserving,
But if this old Chinese house is one of Cebu’s prime tourist historic attractions, then Cebu and perhaps the Philippines on a larger scale have a bit of a problem. Together with the forts, unless you’re a real history/culture junky (guilty as charged) – then these are not attractions I would recommend the average tourist to stop over for.
