As part of my PhD study plan following the qualifying exams and deciding on my research direction, I headed out to visit the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It’s been around 8 years since I last visited the states for some business trips to Redmond’s Microsoft country up over at Seattle, but that was a long time ago in a different life and so I was curious how I would feel about this visit. University of Michigan and Ann Arbor have made it very easy for me to summarize the general positive feeling – I was naturally impressed. The little town offers an exceptionally high standard of living with generally welcoming and friendly people, a quiet and relaxed environment with all the best that a leading university has to offer.
In the first couple of days that I was there I took long breaks from my studies to explore around campus. It’s a relatively old campus with some impressive “colonial” architecture. All quite charming and beautiful.
Take a look …
Looking good, right?
Been there as well two years ago in a conference, it was very nice although at this time of the year it is quite empty…
