Near the prime minister’s home, just off the president’s residences, hosting the lovely Jerusalem Theater and within 5 minutes walk from my parents’ house is the beautiful neighborhood of Talbiyeh. Unless you walk through it, it’s a bit difficult to portray just how lovely it is, gorgeous Jerusalem stone buildings with lovely gardens, most of which used to host foreign consulates, it give an aroma of something as if foreign yet strangely familiar.
Just like Rehavia not far away, and other neighborhoods in the area it has – in recent years – undergone some unneeded development. Some of those houses were expanded and turned into real-estate businesses, but even so, atleast in Talbiyeh it’s still mostly quite nicely done… Problem is, and to some extent always has been, is that this neighborhood is now one of the most expensive in Jerusalem. I didn’t go into too much research but a quick online search showed average prices of 1mUS$ for 100sqm, some going as high as 3.5-4mUS$ for the same size, depending on the location and the view. For Israel – that’s just insane.
If you’re lucky to take a walk around the neighborhood with someone who knows the place (like my cousin did a while back during my sister’s Bat Mitzva, I believe it was), then you’re bound to hear endless magical stories about various interesting people who live or used to live in those houses.
One of the nicest residential areas in Jerusalem. If I had the means, this is definitely a place I’d be happy to live in.
Some beautiful property here. Have put a link up to your site on my geo-location blog – Israel page.
The pictures are fantastic.
passing there for many times never realized that it’s so beautiful
