My first visit ever to the Hong Kong science museum included a very pleasant surprise, a special exhibition dedicated to the “marvelous inventions of Leonardo da Vinchi”.
It’s especially interesting because I just recently finished reading an historical “thriller” called “The Medici Seal”, which details the adventures of a kid working as an apprentice to the great Leonardo da-Vinchi. If you’re into getting a better feel of that period of time, then I strongly recommend you read this.
Though the exhibition is now closed, it is worth documenting and remembering.
The HK Science Museum introduces the exhibition :
The "Marvellous Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci" exhibition displays more than 80 exhibits that depict the legendary life of Leonardo, his ingenious creativity and his brilliance in science. This exhibition presents over 50 interactive mechanic models reconstructed from the drawings and notes contained in the codices of Leonardo. They are divided into 4 areas: war machines, flight, hydraulics and mechanics, each one of them are designed exquisitely with outstanding workmanship. They are developed by the professional artisans of Museum of Leonard da Vinci, Florence in collaboration with leading academics in Italy after years of studies. The exhibition also includes replicas of the codices, video on the life of Leonardo, computer animations of models, and 16 full scale replicas of most famous paintings, including two of the most famous paintings in western art, The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
I didn’t have my camera with me at the time, so all the shots are with my mobile which doesn’t do very well in poor lighting. Still, there are a few good shots … lots of interesting inventions and artistic creations to wonder about.
Also helping me out a bit with slightly better captures is Jimmy Cooper…
